British and other EU nationals travelling to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba resorts only, for up to 14 days, do not require a visa, they shall receive a free entry permission stamp upon arrival.

If you intend to travel out of the mentioned areas or overstay, you must obtain a visa.

Kindly note that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travelling.

Requirements and procedures when applying for a visa to Egypt

Requirements when applying in person at the Consulate:

1.   Original Passport – valid for at least 6 months from the date of issuance of the visa

2.   Two (2) recent standard passport photographs (45mm x 35mm), coloured, taken against a white background, with the name of the applicant written on the back, and attached with a paper clip to the application form. The form can be obtained at the Consulate, from this website, or call 09065508933 to obtain it by fax, or call  09065540833 to obtain it by post.

3. The fees – Cash or Postal Order ONLY.
4. Non-E.U. Nationals must have at least six months left on their U.K. visa.

5.    One person can apply on behalf of their friends and family.

6. Travel Document holders and nationals of the countries listed in Section II below, who need to wait for the approval from the Competent Authorities in Egypt, must apply in person. Photocopies of the passport or travel document are required (2 photocopies of photo page and 2 photocopies of U.K. visa page), as well as 2 application forms with one photo each. Kindly note that original documents and fees are not required until we receive the approval from Egypt. Once we receive the approval you can apply normally in person at the Consulate. Please contact us after six weeks, in person or by email, to check approval of your visa with us, mentioning the date of application, full name and nationality).

7.  Opening hours:

-          Collection: 15:00 – 16:00

No Appointment is required. The visa will be ready for collection between 2 and 3 working days from application, provided that the applicant provided all required documents.

If you cannot return to collect your passport, please provide a Special Delivery self-addressed stamped envelope and we shall return your passports by post.

 

Requirements when applying by post:

 

(Applicable for holders of British and EU, Japanese, Singapore, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and U.S.A. passports. Other Nationals must have at least six months validity on their U.K. visa when applying.)

 

1. Original Passport – valid at least 6 months from the date of issuance of the visa

3.  The EXACT amount of fees to be sent by Postal Order ONLY. Postal Orders must be made payable to “The Egyptian Consulate” and have the initials and postcode of sender written on the back.

4. A Self-Addressed Return Envelope (name and address must be written clearly in BLOCK CAPITAL letters) with enough stamps to return the envelope by Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery (not 1st or 2nd Class). Kindly check with the Post Office regarding the rate and the weight of your passport/s

(We strongly advise you to use Special   Delivery when sending the applications to us and also for the postage of the self addressed stamped envelope)

- Passport (with the visa stick inside) is to be  returned within 7 working days.

- Kindly note that you must be present at the address written on the return envelope during the delivery hours of the Post Office to receive and sign the receipt of your passports. You can write your work address on the return envelope if you wish.

- Please note that the applications, passports and total fees in Postal Orders of a group/ family can be sent in one envelope, and one self-addressed envelope is enough for the return.

 

WE STRONGLY ADVISE THE USE OF SPECIAL DELIVERY WHEN APPLYING BY POST.

POSTAL ORDERS ARE THE ONLY METHOD OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED FOR POSTAL APPLICATIONS. THEY MUST BE FILLED AS FOLLOWS:

1. MADE PAYABLE TO “THE EGYPTIAN CONSULATE”

2. INITIALS AND POST CODE OF SENDER MUST BE WRITTEN AT THE BACK.

Section II:
The following nationalities and holders of Travel Documents require approval from Competent Authorities in Cairo prior issuing the visa (this process takes 6 to 8 weeks)
:
Iran, Bangladesh, Tunisia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Iraq, Eritrea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Moldova.

Nationals of China, Philippines and Sri Lanka working in the UK can obtain single entry tourist visa. Kindly provide us with the following:
1. All the documents mentioned in "Requirements when applying for a visa to Egypt"
2. Validity of their UK working visa for further 6 months

3. Return tickets
4. Bank statement

5. Letter from the employer

Chinese students can obtain single entry tourist visa providing us with the following:
 1.All the documents mentioned in 'Requirements when applying for a visa to Egypt'
 2. Letter from recognized UK University addressed to the Egyptian Consulate, stating the duration of the enrolment.
 3. Return ticket
 4. At least 6 months validity in their UK student visa.

Sudanese nationals who have valid residence for at least 6 months can travel without a visa to Egypt.

Malaysian nationals can stay in Egypt for up to two weeks without visa; more than 2 weeks usual requirements apply.

Palestinian nationals:
Holders of Palestinian Authority passport can have a transit visa for 72 hours.
Holders of Travel Document for Palestinian refugees, if carrying a permission to pass through, can have a transit visa for 72 hours, otherwise must wait for approval form the Authorities in Cairo (see Section II). Please note that this transit visa is only applicable if the Rafah border is open.

For all other Nationalities (not mentioned above and not E.U., Japanese, Singapore, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and U.S.A.), they must have at least six months validity on their U.K. residency, and apply in person at the Consulate, following the regular requirements.


 Important Information:

1.    Single and Multiple Entry Visas are valid for 6 months and allow a maximum stay of 3 months in Egypt ONLY.

2.  A multiple entry visa is valid for one individual passport, and allows the applicant to travel more than once to Egypt.

3.    Only ONE visa is required if passport holder has children under 16 years old included on their passport. In this case, the children’s visa will be included on the parent’s visa.

4.  Children who have their own passports (including babies) will need their own visas.

5.    Business visa applications must be submitted with a letter from the Company stating the reasons of the visit.

6.    No vaccinations are required for tourists travelling from the U.K., but you can check with your G.P. for possible jab recommendations.

7.    EU & US Nationals are exempted from registration with the local police.

8.     Visitors who are from an Egyptian origin or are married to Egyptian have the right to obtain a multiple visa for free, providing us with the original documents confirming the status. Kindly note that no photocopies will be accepted.

9.    There’s a limit of L.E. 5000, and $10000 or equivalent on the amount of cash carried to or from Egypt.

11.   Residency visas can only be obtained in Egypt.

12.  Working permits are to be arranged by your employer in Egypt with the local authorities.
